I'm his HERO!

A guy pulled up to the Hot Dog Truck today with New York plates and announced that I was his hero!

He's been reading my site and he wants to be a hotdogman someday too. The cool thing was he and his wife were traveling from New York to Maine and went out of their way to stop by.

His ride was neat too. He had a Mercedes station wagon converted to run on waste vegetable oil. More and more alternative fueled vehicles are coming into vogue these days. Waste vegetable oil is a cheap and readily available source of fuel.

He wants to get big fryolaters on his Hot Dog Truck so he can "make" his own free fuel. What a great idea.

I am glad I can be an inspiration to hot dog men and women the world over and I look forward to hearing this guy's story!

This is one of my favorites. Translation: "Don't sweat the small stuff."

Ecclesiastes 9:11

I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise nor wealth to the discerning nor favor to men of ability; for time and chance overtake them all.

Roadside Stories Update

Last Friday Bob Wilson and the Roadside Stories crew spent the afternoon at the Hot Dog Truck.

Bob, the show's host, chatted up the customers and came in the truck and served up some dogs. He had a little trouble with the grilled buns and his chili dogs were a bit sloppy (even by my standards) but he did OK for a rookie.

He met a few customers he's going to visit with as well. He hopes to do a roof with the Roof Doctor and some pool repairs with the semi famous Jeff from Horizon Technologies. It will be interesting to see how the show turns out. It should air in August and I will post the entire episode on this site when it is completed.

Thanks Bob, it was lots of fun having you come by, I'm looking forward to the show!

Happy Father's Day!

I woke up this Father's Day in a wet tent and breakfasted with a Boy Scout troop before canoeing home in the pouring rain for a shower and a look at the Red Sox.

Colossians 3:21

Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

Dinner at the Drive-In

I love these old drive in movie ads. Nowadays this family would be dining at the mall and going to the Cinemaplex for a film.

I'd love to have this car today, what a classic! Imagine getting this dressed up to slurp ice cream at the drive-in...

Dazed and Confused

This is a film from 1969, look how young Robert Plant looks (he lookes pretty wretched these days). Tight but loose-just the way Led Zep should be!

The Hotdogman on TV!!!

So I get the clutch in this morning and roll over to the spot. I get all set up and just when it's time to open, I run out of propane. I knew I was low, but I thought I had enough for the day.

When I went to fill her up, the rain caused the valve to jam open.

I am snake bit this week. There was some good news however:

This morning I got a call from Bob Wilson. He produces a show that airs on PBS called Roadside Stories.

Basically Bob travels around New England and visits roadside attractions and hangs out and interviews the folks. Well next Friday, June 13th Bob and his crew are going to be at the Hot Dog Truck!

If you love hot dogs and want to be on TV, COME ON DOWN!

UGH!

To all the Hot Dog fans out there who missed me today, I am truly sorry.

My clutch finally blew out on me and I needed to be towed. Me and my mechanic spent all morning chasing down the parts. Parts for a 1979 Ford E 350 aren't just lying around most places.

The good news is we found them and I'll be back tomorrow!
