Shoemoney's 3rd Annual All expenses paid trip (+2k to gamble) ASW Contest! I WANT TO WIN THIS YEAR!
Shoemoney is at it again. He's running his 3rd Annual All expenses paid trip (+2k to gamble) ASW Contest!
Affiliate Summit West is happening once again on January 8-10 in 2012. It's basically a huge conference for people who sell things online, whether it's books about How to Start a Hot Dog Business, electronic cigarettes, or anything else you can think of. It's a great venue for finding new products, business partners and methods to make money online. I attended Affiliate Summit last year and had a blast.
I entered Shoemoney's contest last year and, unfortunately, fell short. This year I want to win.
Even though I did not win last year, I did get to hang with Jeremy for a bit- he was a friendly, down to earth guy. He even posed for a picture with (a much chubbier) me in the classic Hotdogman "two thumbs up" style.
In order to win this contest, I have to be chosen as a finalist by Shoemoney's staffers- then the general public votes on the winner.
I will be unique at Affiliate Summit. I will probably be the only person there that generates the bulk of their internet income from writing about hot dogs! While my topic may be somewhat unique in the internet marketing world, carving out a nice little niche on the internet is not. Jeremy, and others in the "internet guru" class, have taught me a lot over the years about how to monetize my sites for maximum profit. Even though Jeremy has become more of a wide ranging entrepreneur by going beyond money making websites into other internet ventures, he still has a lot of sound advice for those starting out and for those who continue to carve out their own piece of internet real estate. The key to being even moderately successful online, while site design, SEO and good content are important, ultimately comes down to relationships. And what better place to forge new online relationships than at Affiliate Summit where about 10,000 other people will be doing the same thing?
I'd also like to do a few more Las Vegas Hot Dog Stories- this time with the video camera! This time around, I'd like to have more "guest doggers" appear with me- perhaps Jeremy is game?
I had a Gold Pass to last year's Summit, and I feel like I missed out on some of the best educational sessions. The Platinum Pass I'd win with this contest would give me access to EVERYTHING! The more access I have, the more I'll be able to blog about.
So here is my plea to Shoemoney's staff:
Why on earth would I even need to win the contest and "roll with Shoemoney?" After all, I had quite a year myself. You may recall I gained national media attention for my "Eat a Hot Dog a Day for National Hot Dog Month" stunt back in July. That gained me a slew of new readers and a whole bunch of cash, but it didn't put me in that life changing position that hanging with the heavy hitters in the internet marketing game could do.
Like last year, I pledge to bet the whole $2,000 on one hand of Blackjack and, if I win, I will give $1,000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Metrowest. They do great work with kids in my community and I'd love to help them out- I used to collect for them at my Hot Dog Truck. I'd also treat Shoemoney and his staff to a feast of Pink's Hot Dogs- the West Coast hot dog icon with a shop at Planet Hollywood. I'd keep about $1,000 for gambling and "investments" and keep the rest for those post holiday bills.
I'd also like to go for the partying. I attended many of the parties last year, but didn't have the "insider's access" I'd get by rolling with the Shoe Crew. After last year's Summit, Jeremy made a big deal about giving a speech on two hours sleep after a night of partying. I'd like the opportunity to show Mr. Shoemoney what REAL PARTYING is all about. I rarely sleep in Las Vegas- I do all my sleeping on the plane!
Even though I did meet Jeremy last year and did get to speak with him briefly, I would love the opportunity to really pick his brain. We do share something in common too- we have both been overweight and we have both lost our girth. I went from 250 pounds to 180 pounds in about a year. Jeremy might not recognize me, there is so much less to see now.
Of course I would shamelessly promote Shoemoney on my sites (like he needs it). After all, PR 4 links are quite valuable....
Seriously, winning this contest would mean the world to my wife, my kids and myself. I have come so far in one year, but I feel like the journey is incomplete. I came much closer to earning a full time income online in 2011 and I want to make it a fully realized dream in 2012. My experiences at Affiliate Summit last year brought me much knowledge, minor fame in hot dog circles, an increased income from my websites and other opportunities- including multiple job offers. I want to take the next step of the journey and winning this contest would be that next step.
So Shoemoney staffers:

Crazy Affiliate Times in Las Vegas- A CONTEST I WANT TO WIN
The Affiliate Summit West is coming to Las Vegas January 9-11. For those not in the know, it's a sort of convention for people who like to sell stuff on the internet. If you haven't noticed, I sell a few things on this site and on other sites I have too.
Since I started in the online Hot Dog Business in 2007, this site has become very popular for wanna be hot dog vendors. I am not saying I dominate this funky little niche market, but I have built a nice little online business promoting the "hot dog lifestyle." While building this online, hot dog empire, I have been struggling to make internet marketing a full time occupation and I am a little more than half way there; I feel like I need that extra "something" that will push me over the top.
That something could be hanging with the heavy hitters in the online marketing world. I am writing this post because I have a shot at winning Shoemoney's Crazy Affiliate Summit West Contest. Winning this contest would get me direct access to the "rockstars" of the affiliate marketing industry and provide me the opportunity to learn from the best of the best. Just like any other venture, sometimes it's not what you know, but who you know. Hanging out with the likes of Shoemoney could get my sites the kind of exposure you just can't buy.
I have big plans for one of my other sites, Hot Dog Stories, and I hope to learn about how I can leverage my unique content into some big dollars, whether it's through advertising, affiliate sales, or a combination of a bunch of different monetizing ideas. Hot Dog Stories has been a popular site and I think it will get bigger in 2011 when we go to video. I want it to be a big success and the exposure I can get at Affiliate Summit from Shoemoney and other "big time" internet experts will give the site a nice boost.
There are some other perks to winning this contest; most notably the opportunity to bet $2000 on one hand of Blackjack! The last time I bet that kind of money on a hand of Blackjack was at the Desert Inn, the hotel that was demolished to build Wynn Las Vegas, which happens to be the hotel where Affiliate Summit is taking place. This was in the late 80's: I was single, childless, carefree, and a bit of a high roller at the time. Getting the opportunity, even for one hand, to roll like I used to "back in the day" would make the whole contest worth it, even without all the other stuff. The whole karmic, circle of (Vegas) life story line would fill these pages for a few weeks too- I might even include a rant on what a crappy rule the "dealer hits soft 17" is.
In order to win the contest, I have to convince Shoemoney's staff that I deserve to win. I am hoping the Blackjack thing will be enough, but I doubt it, so I will continue to plead my case.
I imagine I will be somewhat unique at Affiliate Summit. Many attendees will be the kind of folks who sell stuff to people who want to learn how to sell stuff to other people online. I want to learn more about that, but I don't want to be another "make money online" marketer. There are plenty of them and they do it better than I ever could. I want to use my time at the Affiliate Summit to network and meet people in the industry that I can form partnerships with. I want exposure and there will be plenty of other people there looking for the same thing. If I can meet up with enough people, we should all be able to help each other.
I would also relish the experience of doing a "Celebrity Hot Dog Story" with some of the internet "stars," like Shoemoney, who will be in attendance. The access I would have to these kinds of folks would make it easier to accomplish this goal.
Another reason I'd like to win is the food. If I win, I get a Platinum pass which means I'd get breakfast and lunch during the conference. I probably won't have time to do Hot Dog Stories during the show as the meal breaks are only an hour, so I'll need to nourish myself for the long nights of munching hot dogs, partying and gambling.
So why should the judges pick me?
First and foremost, I would bet the whole $2000 on the Blackjack hand. I would NOT take $1000 and walk. If I won, I would give $1000 to the Boys and Girls Club of Metrowest; I used to collect cash for them at my Hot Dog Truck and I truly believe in the work they do with children. I'd put $1000 aside for bills and I'd take $1000 and have an obscene dinner with Shoemoney, the founder of the feast-so to speak- and his staff. The other $1000 would be brought to the craps table; any winnings there would be divvied out accordingly!
Shoemoney said winning this contest could "really change the life of the winner." I like my life and I wouldn't change much, but the kind of change he's talking about would be a good thing, as long as the Las Vegas PD didn't get involved. I'd get lots of publicity for my sites and I would do whatever I could to use my exposure to help other bloggers too.
I am a "master partier." Vegas, and Affiliate Summit, are all about partying. I can drink most people under the table, gamble until dawn and I have a ton of funny stories about a wide variety of topics from the wonder of children to the "less than savory" variety. If you want a fun guy to win this prize, I am the guy!
I have been following Shoemoney since I started out blogging and I owe a chunk of my success to his informative site. At the very least, I'd like to thank him personally for all the help he has given me over the years.
I would also publicize the living crap out of Shoemoney (like he needs it) and any other folks I encounter at the Summit. If I won, there would be weeks worth of posts on this blog (in addition to any Hot Dog Stories). When I make it big(ger), Shoemoney can say "hey, look what I did for this schmuck, imagine what I can do for YOU?"
Winning this contest would mean the world to me and my family. I am sure it would help increase my internet presence and income. This would make my very lovely wife happy. When she's happy, I'm happy!

No Win For the Hotdogman
I entered a Fry Sauce contest at the Benspark Blog a few weeks ago. To see who won, check out the Fry Sauce Contest Winner. (it wasn't me)
The recipes for all the sauces are in the post-they ALL sound delicious!

Hotdogman, Shoeperstar
OK, so I do a lot of Pay Per Posts (over 200 to date). I like the extra dough. I've paid for braces, a lawyer and a bunch of other stuff with the money I've made from these paid posts.
The money's good, but I WANT MORE!! I want to go to Texas and attend the SXSW Conferences and Festivals. I want to hang out with Shoemoney, the blogger's guru and Ted Murphy of IZEA (the Pay Per Post folks) and be on the internet show RockStartup. Why do I want these things? Because it would be FUN!
Well, I may have found a way to do this. I can be a Shoeperstar and win Shoemoney's contest! I'll get plane fare to Austin, Texas, three nights hotel accommodation, and one thousand dollars spending cash if I win! Plus I get to be on the RockStartup show!
Why should I win? Because I make the best hot dogs and I actually use all the advice on blogs like Shoemoney to earn money blogging without writing about how to earn money blogging! And I do it without a single picture of cats to boot. I really am a blogging Shoeperstar!
Shoemoney is having a contest that I hope to win that will give me all this cool stuff. You can enter it HERE. But don't bother, I've got it wrapped up!

Greeting Cards Scholarship Contest
Everyone knows I like to make a buck. I came across a great way for high school or college kids to make a few bucks, $10,000 to be exact, for college.
We've all probably opened a greeting card and thought "hey, I could write this stuff." Now is the chance to do it and WIN A $10,000 scholarship!
Gallery Greeting Cards, the folks who print business Christmas cards (the ones you get from your Realtor, your insurance company etc. at Christmas time) are having their first annual greeting cards scholarship contest. All you need to do is design a business Christmas card. The contest is open to high school and college students over age 14 who are legal US residents. Sorry, no entries from Maine accepted-Maine always gets the shaft! The entries can contain original drawings or photos and text. A creative, witty would be college scholar can get an extra ten grand for school if they win!
I used to send out hundreds of business Christmas cards when I was in the mortgage business. Each broker had a budget for the cards and the postage and we were REQUIRED to send cards. We'd spend the better part of a day getting our mailings together. We'd even pay the office admin a few bucks to sign them for us. I believe my company ordered our cards through the Gallery Collection. Little did I know that my kids could get money for college from the same company!
If you are a kid (or have a kid) over 14 and college is in the future, you should check out the greeting cards scholarship contest and give it a whirl. You have nothing to lose and $10,000 for college to gain.

Ford Logo Contest
I have owned Ford Vans, Ford Trucks and I currently drive a Ford Escort, so I am familiar with Ford vehicles and the Ford Logo. One thing I didn't know about Ford was the Ford Blue Oval Scholars program. This is a national scholarship program sponsored by the Ford Motor Company Fund. Ford hopes to encourage networking, collaboration and interaction amongst scholarship recipients via the web, making it unique in the "scholarship universe."
To help launch the new web based Ford Blue Oval Scholars program, Ford is having a Logo Design Contest! The current logo is pictured below-you can see why they might want a new one, it looks like the old Aerosmith logo (not that there's anything wrong with that).
Basically, if you are over the age of 16 and have a flair for graphic design, you can submit your design to the contest. This would be a great way for a budding graphic artist to get some experience and exposure. First prize is the Premium Edition of the Adobe Creative Suite, a $1,700 value prize! There are lots of other great software prizes too. You need to hurry though because entries are due November 1, 2007. Online voting will determine the winners which will be announced around the first of December.
If I could draw something beyond a smiley face, I'd enter the contest myself! You can get a look at the Contest Rules HERE.
GOOD LUCK!
