The Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy (www.rosekennedygreenway.org) is pleased to announce May 5th as the new date for the Greenway Mobile Food Fest, with a rain date planned for the following Saturday, May 12th. The event, which takes place from 11:30 AM to 7 PM, will highlight 22 food trucks, carts, and bicycles, and include a cook‐off of Spring‐inspired dishes, which will then be evaluated by a panel of celebrity chefs. The event itself is free, and the 22 Spring‐inspired dishes will be available for purchase.
The Greenway Mobile Food Fest is an outgrowth of “Greenway Mobile Eats,” a food vending program which has grown in popularity every year since its inception in 2010. The Greenway Mobile Food Fest was originally scheduled for October 2011, but was postponed due to space constraints and safety concerns.
Greenway Mobile Food Fest isn’t simply for “foodies,” however. Six local bands will also be performing:
Brendan Hogan, Larcenist, Mount Peru, Audrey Ryan, Mister Sister, and Coyote Kolb. There will also be an array of backyard games like bocce, croquet, ladder ball, and baggo, and a Kids’ Zone with crafts and other activities. A canned food drive will support the Greater Boston Food Bank.
“The Greenway Mobile Food Fest has something for everyone,” says Nancy Brennan, executive director of the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy. “You’ll get to sample some of the best street food in the country, spend time with our panel of celebrity judges, play games, and enjoy the plants, flowers, and public art on the Greenway. Bring your friends, your family – and your appetite!”
Wondering what type of fare will be presented for judging? Examples include shortbread with housemade vanilla‐scented strawberry rhubarb compote with whipped crème fraiche, grilled Korean rice cakes and asparagus on skewers with a spicy cilantro pesto, spring vegetable gazpacho, and rhubarb cinnamon popsicles.
Judges will include chef David Chinta of Miel at the Intercontinental Hotel and chef Jason Santos of Blue, Inc. and the FOX TV series “Hell’s Kitchen.”
The Greenway parks are fully accessible to people with disabilities. The Wharf District Parks on the Rose Kennedy Greenway are accessible through the MBTA Aquarium (Blue Line) Station, and in close proximity to both North Station (Green, Orange and Commuter Rail Lines) and South Station (Red, Silver and Commuter Rail Lines).
About the Rose Kennedy Greenway
The Rose Kennedy Greenway is a ribbon of contemporary urban parks that connects people and the city by providing beauty, fun, and a sense of community in Boston. Now, four of Boston’s most diverse and dynamic neighborhoods – formerly divided by a massive structure of steel and asphalt – are linked by beautifully landscaped parks, gardens, and plazas and reconnected with the harbor. For more information, visit www.rosekennedygreenway.org.
About The Greenway Conservancy

We are delivering on the promise of a beautiful, vibrant, innovative city park. Established in July, 2004 through an agreement with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, the City of Boston, and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Conservancy is a private, non‐profit organization, which operates, maintains, preserves and manages the parks on behalf of the public. The Conservancy raises private and public funds to support the parks, aspiring to excellence in design, operations, and public programming.

Greenway Mobile Foodfest Cancelled until Spring
The Greenway Mobile Food Fest, which was planned for Saturday, October 15, has been postponed until the Spring. We will work with the participating vendors and collaborate with them on selecting a date for early 2012.
Saturday’s event was to include 12 mobile food vendors, many of them in large trucks. It was to take place on Dewey Square, the only parcel large enough to accommodate this type of gathering.
The decision is based on the fact the attendees we’re anticipating for the Greenway Mobile Food Fest, when combined with the Occupy Boston encampment on Dewey Square, would simply be too crowded to be considered safe for the public.
Yesterday, activists complied with the smooth load-in and load-out of the Boston Public Market, a successful farmer’s market on Dewey Square, but the scale of Saturday’s event is much, much bigger.
While this half acre of the Greenway is in full-time use by Occupy Boston, the remaining 15.5 acres of the Greenway remain open, beautiful and welcoming to all. We encourage visitors and residents alike to explore the Rings Fountain, the Carousel, the Harbor Islands Pavilion, and our water features and public art.
