When the Red Sox traded Nomar in 2004 at the trading deadline, I expressed shock and dismay. Then the Red Sox went on to win a World Series title.
When I heard about Manny today, I was similarly stunned. I can only pray the Sox will have similar results. His is one tough bat to replace in the lineup. He is, quite simply, the best hitter in baseball. I always liked him, despite the shenanigans. I wonder where he'll end up next year. I just hope it's not the AL East.
Bye bye Manny. The Hotdogman will miss you!
Manny will be Manny Elsewhere

Manny being Many on Leno
As part of the Red Sox victory talk show tour, Manny Ramirez made an appearance on the Jay Leno Show. Manny doesn't talk to the media much, so it was nice to hear what he has to say. He came across as a likable, somewhat goofy guy who was willing to laugh at himself. This is a rare glimpse at Manny being Manny, without the rabid Boston media trying to twist his words.
Enjoy.

Red Sox March to Playoffs!
The Boston Red Sox will play the Cleveland Indians beginning Friday Night for the right to play in the World Series against either Colorado or Arizona. The barnstorming Yankees (who still suck) blew their load just getting to the post season and didn't have enough pitching to force another Yanks/Sox showdown.
The key to victory over the Indians will be whether Josh Beckett, Curt Schilling and Dice-K Matsusaka can out pitch Sabathia and Carmona. I wanted the Yankees to push the series to 5 games so Sabathia would be tired versus the Sox.
The hitters will have to hit too. Big Papi and Manny Ramirez are ON FIRE, let's hope they stay that way! It's about people playing big on the big stage-and there's no hitting duo bigger and badder than Manny and Papi.
I hate this long layoff between the ALDS and the ALCS. I'm too filled with anticipation. Once the series starts, I'll settle into a rhythm. A good baseball rhythm. In the meantime, I'll read up on the stats, the players and I'll take another look at the match ups from this season.
Friday can't get here soon enough.

Manny Gets Grilled
Manny Ramirez of the Boston Red Sox put his gas grill up for sale yesterday on eBay! Read the story HERE.
At the end of the article is this : "I'm just here to play the game and enjoy it," Ramirez told the Globe. "[I enjoy] my life. All the things that I do I enjoy. I'm not here to talk to [the media]. I'm here to play the game. That's me, you know. The same. Everywhere I go is the same."
The guy takes a lot of heat from the media, largely because he doesn't talk to them so they have to invent stuff.
LAY OFF MANNY! And pass the barbeque sauce....
