SITE CLEAN UP

I was noticing the site was loading slow so I did a major reduction in HTML codes. Basically, any badges and widgets that weren't performing or weren't working got axed. The page seems to load much faster now!

I was distressed to remove the Bumpzee widget, but it hasn't displayed properly for months. Too bad-my Bumpzee community was approaching 200 members, but if the widget doesn't work, why should it hang up my page.

I'm contemplating a complete overhaul of the site. I've been mulling over switching to a wordpress template. If anyone can offer advice and/or a good template for this site, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I don't know when I'll do the ovehaul-maybe this winter-stay tuned.

A Dog a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

******DISCLAIMER******
I'm not a doctor, but I've watched them on T.V.
******DISCLAIMER******

The Hot Dog is a much loved food item. When prepared properly, they are a uniquely delicious delicacy. To experience the truely authentic hot dog, you can't get them any old place. Don't ever buy a hot dog at a gas station-the kind you'll find there have most likely been sitting in the little "roll-o-matic" for weeks. Hot Dogs at Baseball Parks are also over-rated; I've been to Fenway (duh), Yankee Stadium, Jacob's Field, Riverfront (old Cincinnati Reds Park), and Camden Yards and I have yet to find a good hot dog at a ball game. Youth sport venues also have some pretty crappy hot dogs, but at least you know you're helping some youth sport league while you poison yourself with some lame skinless frank. To get a truly great hot dog, you need to seek out the local hot dog "joint." The Hot Dog Truck falls into this category, so when in the area.....

But I digress-

Yes, hot dogs are yummy. They also get a bad rap as (gasp) "junk food." Obviously, the folks who label hot dogs as "junk" haven't read THIS. While I do eat a dog or two on most work days, I rarely take my work home with me. Maybe I should....

So I say-eat up those hot dogs and live healthy! Two dogs a day keeps the doctor (and the hungries) away!

ODB Just Don't get it

ODB from the California office of Horizon Technologies is apparently my biggest fan. He's never had one of my hot dogs, but his east coast associate (and # 1 customer) Jeff has had many. ODB has taken to being the arbiter of what I should do with my business. He got on my case via email about closing the first two Fridays of the season due to (torrential sideways) rain.

When he saw I was taking a few days off next week to travel to FABULOUS LAS VEGAS with my wife and kids, he sent me this email:

HDM,

Off the 17th, 18th, 21st, and 22nd - WTF? I guess you roll part time or you married money n sh*t cuz no working man has a schedule like yours - you have more excuses as to why you aren’t there then a crack head in court.

Why don’t you post pictures of your dogs as we can never buy them cuz you are closed more then you are open – better yet, just tell us what days you are open and save the ink…..

ODB

The ODB just doesn't get it. He is like I once was. He sits on the phone all day trying to sell electronics. He does a pretty good job of it from what Jeff says. Probably makes decent money to boot. But at what price?

I got sick of worrying about quotas, sick of listening to some sales manager push and push, sick of the rat race. After all, even if you win the rat race, you're still a rat! So I bought a Hot Dog Truck. I answer to nobody. As long as I serve a good dog (and I do-ask around), I will be employed without condition.

Taking 4 days off WHEN I WANT TO is part of it. I am the boss. I make the rules. If you don't like it, tough.

So while ODB is sweating talk time, his quota and god knows whatever other petty little fires may flare up during his day, I'll be sitting poolside in Vegas thinking of what show I want to go to that night or whether I'll play Blackjack or craps.

I'll be thinking about the Hot Dog Truck too. Not because I'll dread going back to work, but because I'll be looking forward to it. It's the best job in the world, and I don't have a quota.

Thanks for the pictures too, ODB. Enjoy your cubicle.

10 Things to Do on a Rainy Day at the Hot Dog Truck

We haven't had much rain this year, at least not since April, until today. I began writing this post back in April, but it got forgotten since it didn't rain much. Since it rained today, I decided to complete it.

Here it is:

Well today was a crappy weather day! Things looked good until it started raining/snowing (yes SNOW IN APRIL) around 10:30, then it died. Besides agonizing about non-realized income and whether or not to cancel Little League practice tonight, there are many ways to pass the time.

Here are the top 10 Things to Do on a Rainy Day at the Hot Dog Truck:

10. Play TETRIS on my cell phone (high score 194,816!)

9. Re-arrange the buckets catching water that drips through the skylights

8. Count the hot dogs

7. Think of things to write for the Hot Dog Truck

6. Inventory the straws

5. Call my wife every ten minutes and say "whatcha doin" then say "sorry gotta go." This drives her nuts.

4. Call Little League team to cancel practice.

3. Rehearse my acceptance speech to the "Hot Dog Hall of Fame."

2. Wonder if it would be too lame for a 43 year old to go to the Van Halen reunion concert.

1. Restrain self from bitch slapping the next person who asks "Busy today?"

New Header!!

I got the cool new header designed for FREE by Revka at The Porch Light.

I came across her site one night while surfin the net and she was offering to design free headers for the first 25 responders so she could promote her new design service RS Designs. Sorry there are no more freebies :o( but she does good work, is prompt in responding and seems like a genuinely nice person to boot.

Her blog has money making info, recipes, religious stuff, family activities and a lot more. Check out her site and her blog.

THANK YOU REVKA!!!!!!

Can You Feel the Love?!?!

Well after about a month and a half or so of blogging, I am getting noticed! My mother always said I was starved for attention....

Anyhoo, a site that reviews blogs called (appropriately) Our Blog Review, reviewed me HERE.

It's all good!

Munny4Hunny had some nice things to say too, click here. Munny also had some rather strange things to say (something about legos and dog's testicles) here.

THEY LIKE ME, They REALLY REALLY Like Me!
