Local Internet Marketing, Plumbers, and Hot Wives

Last week I spoke with Andy Rodenhiser of Rodenhiser Plumbing about Local Internet Marketing, Plumbers, and Hot Wives.

Andy is a very web savvy guy and he shared his thoughts with me about local internet marketing. You hear a lot about local internet marketing online; mostly from internet marketers.

This interview gives the straight dope from a local business owner's perspective.

Local Internet Savvy Plumber Answers "The Question"

I interviewed Mr. Andy Rodenhiser, owner of Rodenhiser Plumbing today. His company made some waves around here last summer with this billboard:

Needless to say, the many billboards in the greater Boston area piqued people's interest and riled a few of the more Puritanical types around here. The URL linked to a portion of Andy's website on air conditioning repair.

I sat down with Andy to chat about local marketing from a business person's point of view- as opposed to the internet marketer's point of view folks so often read about. That interview, along with a few others, will be the focus of a story about local internet marketing over on RobMerlino.com in the near future.

As regular readers may know, whenever I do an interview, I ask "The Question."

So, true to form, I asked Andy: "Do you put ketchup on your hot dogs?"

His answer: "Ketchup ...boring... Chile, onions and real cheese, now you have my attention!
And bacon!!!!!"

I know mama Rodenhiser raised her boys right! Now if she could only get Andy's brother to show up for appointments!!!

Marketing Genius

I was cruising down route 9 last week while on my way to the Recession Stand to do a Hot Dog Story when I saw this billboard.

Customers at the Recession Stand were buzzing about the billboard. I must admit, as a red blooded American male who is married to the very hot Mrs. HDM, my curiosity, albeit prurient, was piqued.

Check out the site for yourself:

In case you didn't click, you'd see the following:

"Is your wife hot? Better get her A/C fixed!"

The site is an advertisement for Rodenhiser Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning.

Many Rodenhiser crews stopped by the hot Dog Truck for lunch over the years, so I don't mind giving the free plug.

I think this advertisement is sheer marketing genius! I don't know how many converted sales they have made from this campaign, but I'll bet dollars to doughnuts they got TONS of clicks and generated quite a few laughs. Company owner Andy Rodenhiser tells me the billboard and website are "phase one" of the advertising campaign. "Phase two" is a TV commercial. I'll post it when it becomes available- it should be good for a chuckle too.

I think this campaign is marketing genius, what do you think?
